Prestige Guitars: In Studio and Live with Hot Hot Heat.

We are pleased to welcome Hot Hot Heat to the growing Prestige Guitars Artist Roster. Currently in the studio recording their follow-up to 2007's Happiness Ltd. Hot Hot Heat guitarist; Luke Paquin, along with his trusty Prestige Heritage Standard (Lefty) are constantly refining rock & roll as we know it. “… Simply put, The Heritage Standard sounds better than our ’76 and ’78 Les Paul Deluxe Guitars!!” - Hot Hot Heat

hot hot heat

Hot Hot Heat formed in Victoria, British Colombia, Canada, in 1999. The band is currently comprised of Steve Bays (vocals and keyboards), Paul Hawley (drums), Dustin Hawthorne (bass) and Luke Paquin (guitar).

The band's touring exposure attracted the interest of Seattle record label Sub Pop, who signed Hot Hot Heat in 2001, leading to the early 2002 release of EP Knock Knock Knock, produced in part by Chris Walla of Death Cab for Cutie. Although Hot Hot Heat got its start as a hardcore band, by the time it made contact with Sub Pop, its sound had mutated into what would soon be known as dance-punk. The band stood at the forefront of a movement that would explode on the indie rock scene within another year.

The EP was followed up quickly by the band's first full-length release, Make Up the Breakdown, produced by Nirvana and Soundgarden producer Jack Endino. That album quickly found critical acclaim, and its singles "Bandages" and "Talk to Me, Dance With Me" received regular airplay on MTV and radio, including influential Los Angeles, California station KROQ, on whose charts both reached No. 1.

In 2004 Make Up the Breakdown won “Favorite Album” at the Canadian Independent Music Awards by popular vote. Their next album Elevator, the band's major label debut, was released commercially by Warner Bros. in April 2005. Featuring the songs “Good Night, Good Night” and “Middle of Nowhere” . The follow up to Elevator, Happiness Ltd., was released on September 11, 2007.

Shaun Verreault of Wide Mouth Mason joins the Prestige family.

shaun verreault

We would like to welcome Shaun Verreault (Vocals/Guitar) of Wide Mouth Mason, as the latest musician to join the Prestige Guitar family. Shaun has been Playing/Recoding with his Prestige Heritage Hollow, Standard, and Classic guitars in both his Solo Project and Wide Mouth Mason respectively. Be sure to catch them live in a city near you. Visit www.widemouthmason.com for tour and album release dates.

Wide Mouth Mason (WMM) is an R&B based, modern pop/rock, power trio, reminiscent of a modern day combination of trios such as “The Experience”, “The Police”, and “Nirvana”. They have won over thousands of fans based on their high energy live performances, musicianship and love for playing music together. Their appeal crosses genres from youth who enjoy edgy new music to older crowds who are reminded of the golden days of rock and roll.

Wide Mouth Mason hails from Saskatoon, Canada. WMM started playing together in high school and have been together since. They’ve received a Juno nomination for “Best New Group” and have two Certified Gold Records in Canada under their belt. Two of their four albums were co-produced and engineered by Todd Burke (Ben Harper, Jack Johnson) and David Leonard (Prince, Barenaked Ladies). Both of whom have largely increased WMM’s level of studio experience and ability to comfortably work with music industry heavy weights.

Wide Mouth Mason is also no stranger to the “big” stage having toured extensively in North America with The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, and ZZ Top. On these tours, Wide Mouth (as their fans call them), garnered standing ovations, not only from the audiences, but from the actual headliners and their road crews, who are normally the harshest critics. In Montreaux, Switzerland they were dubbed “The Find of the Festival” by Claude Knobbes, who is the founder of the prestigious Montreaux Jazz Festival. WMM was the first ever Canadian Rock Group to be invited to the festival. At this festival WMM opened for Van Morrison who was quoted in the Swiss Press calling the boys “..the best band I’ve seen in a long time..”. WMM was also the first rock group from the West to break into the Communist Republic of China in 2002, thanks in part to their multi-cultural look and worldwide sound.

With their license and distribution contract with Warner Music Canada expired, WMM have recently signed a license agreement with Curve Music. They are Currently working on their latest album with producer Jay Evjan at the acclaimed Greenhouse Studios in Vancouver, BC. Look for a late 2008 release. In the mean time, pick up a copy of Shaun Verreault’s new solo album “Two Steel Strings” to hear a different side of Wide Mouth.
